Racial Justice

Racial justice issues have been recognised as a key concern for our Union for many years, with the Racial Justice Working Group being set up at the March 1995 Council in response to the growing diversity of our country and churches.  Since then it has worked towards seeing, in our Union, the realisation of the vision expressed in Revelation 7:9 – ‘After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no-one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.’

In April 2021, a response to the Government's report on race relations in the UK (the Sewell Report) was issued by the Racial Justice Advocacy Forum - a new ecumenical Christian entity which seeks to speak prophetically on behalf of Black and Brown Christians to Government on racial injustice challenges and reparations.

To enable our Union to become fully multicultural, our National Justice Hub has developed or commissioned some helpful resources and initiatives for churches.

Whitemoor Lakes, Lichfield

Young. Bright & Bold is an ongoing residential and mentoring programme equipping Young Black & Brown Christian Baptists to feel connected, navigate their spaces effectively, and become active leaders in their church & beyond.

YBB was established in 2006. It gathers young Black & Brown Baptists annually, offering a unique blend of fun, learning, and spiritual exploration. Participants engaged deeply with the cultures, traditions, theologies, and worldviews that shape Black & Brown Baptist identity. Participants experience personal development, spiritual encounters, shared experiences creating a rich bank of memories and forged enduring friendships.

YBB’s objectives are clear: to help young Black & Brown Baptists recognise and utilise their leadership potential within Baptist spaces; to strengthen their sense of belonging within the Baptist family; and to facilitate meaningful, lasting friendships.

If you are the parent or guardian of a young person aged 14 – 19 years old who might be interested in attending, please complete the form below and we will be in touch when bookings open.
