This book is raw, genuine, based in reality and points to Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit. It is full of stories and examples that inspire, but also loads of hands on practical examples that can literally be lifted off the page and used. This isn’t some dry textbook or merely the account of something that has happened ’elsewhere’ in some other context that doesn’t really relate to yours. It is an unfinished and ongoing account of how God is on the move.

It’s a book that I couldn’t put down. I read it over the course of a weekend and it has left me fired up and determined to go after every opportunity that God has set before me personally in the community he has placed me in.

Phil Sokell-Miles powerfully shares the story of Prayer Spaces in School both here in the UK and other countries too. His personal experience is woven throughout the book, but its never the main thing. His heart and passion to see young lives changed is front and centre.

Split into three parts:

  • An introduction to Prayer Spaces, something of the story so far.
  • An explanation as to the why we need Prayer Spaces.
  • An invitation to have a go, get involved, see where God leads.

Each chapter concludes with 3 ‘Reflect and Pray’ questions, inviting the reader to personal engage with what God is doing and how it can impact and effect their own lives. This is then followed by a prayer activity that has been referred to in the previous chapter.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has a school in their local community. This is the story of what is already happening, how God is moving and it's an invitation for churches to be a part of an amazing move of God.

Ed Jones is pastor of Battle Baptist Church, has huge respect for all those working in education, tirelessly week in week out, and loves every opportunity to be a blessing to his local schools
