Spurgeon's College is the largest of the Baptist theological colleges and has trained ministers who have made a large impact both upon British churches and across the world. Its core activity is training attractive, evangelical ministers and it has always had a strong emphasis on evangelism and church planting.
Today, it aims to train 'missionary ministers' who know what they are talking about when it comes to theology and are able to interpret the modern world effectively. In this sense, it is both 'classic' and 'contemporary'. It offers both church-based and college-based patterns of training (BTh and BD degrees respectively) and has a range of MA and MTh degrees that can be studied full-time, part-time, and through open learning.
Degree studies can also be accessed online through Spurgeon's Online Learning. The college supervises research degrees to MPhil, PhD and DMin levels. Important opportunities exist through the Centre for Pastoral and Professional Counselling and the Centre for Continuing Development in Ministry. Spurgeon's is an approved partner of the University of Manchester.
