Saturday morning Bible study options

Saturday morning will begin with a choice of two sessions from 09:30 - 10:30.
  • Baptists Together 'takeover' of the Telford parkrun which takes place next to the venue. Whether you run, jog, walk or would like to volunteer, there is a place for you and it is an all-age activity.
  • Bible study - an hour of study spaces with prayer, led by three leaders from across Baptists Together.

The three Bible study options available are:

On the day of Pentecost, all those who gathered asked 'What does this mean'?? A Visio Divina Prayer Space - led by Jane Day

Praying through art or graphics is a multi-sensory way to connect to God through prayer. This type of prayer is known as Visio Divina. Throughout the Assembly, there will be a dedicated prayer space to reflect on the findings of Project Violet using graphic recordings. You are invited to join us on Saturday morning where we will pause and ponder these wonderful images and works of creativity. The project is a three-year collaborative piece of research examining the experiences and place of women in Baptist life, leadership and ministry.

‘A violent wind came from heaven’ - Wale Hudson-Roberts

Justice Enabler Wale Hudson Roberts leads a Bible study exploring how Pentecost is a radical call to justice not just in the present but admitting and making right the wrongs of the past.

All God’s promises are ‘yes’: Pentecost as the old fulfilled and the new begun - Helen Paynter

Helen Paynter has served as minister in two Baptist churches in Bristol and is now Tutor in Biblical Studies at the Bristol Baptist College, where she specialises in the Old Testament and Biblical Theology. She is also the founding director of the Centre for the Study of Bible and Violence. She is the author of a number of books, most recently Blessed are the Peacemakers: A biblical theology of human violence.
