Church from Scratch offers new reflective film

Church from Scratch in Southend has produced a new film to help churches reflect on and discuss sensitive issues around sexuality

Grace CfSIn the short film Grace tells her story of coming out as a gay Christian, growing up in church, the impact on her mental health and how she worked through to a place of resolution and faith.

Peter Dominey is the minister of Church from Scratch. He said, ‘We were mindful that churches may not have the opportunity to discuss these sensitive matters with the benefit of the presence or at least the stories of gay Christians and so made this to help with that.

‘And we also wanted to provide a resource that might be helpful to the well-being of gay Christians who did not have an affirming community to be part of.’

Grace, now a member of Church from Scratch, added, ‘I hope this video will be used by churches to have meaningful, compassionate and open-minded conversations about LGBTQ+ inclusion and affirmation.

‘I also hope my story will reach out to those who have been rejected or hurt by the church, to let them know that they are not alone and that they are a reflection of God.’
