The ministries team helpfully separated the steps of Baptist ministry into six points: Inkling, exploration, decision, application, preparation, and ministry.
 
INKLING
Pay attention to:
  • Your internal sense of calling
  • Your existing roles in church
  • Encouragement from others
  • Prophetic words and scripture  
EXPLORATION
Investigate more by:
  • Reading Baptist guidance
  • Working with a mentor
  • Considering practicalities
  • Visiting Baptist colleges
  • Praying
  • Seeking more experience
  • Talking to friends
  • Speaking to ministers and leaders
  • Contacting your regional ministry team
DECISION
Choose between:
Accredited Ministry or Recognised Local Ministry & indicate a preference for:
  • Church Pastor
  • Chaplain
  • Pioneer
  • Children’s/Youth/Families’ Minister
APPLICATION
Follow these stages in order:
  1. Ministry application form
  2. Commendation from home church
  3. Ministerial Recognition Committee
  4. College interview (Candidates for Accredited Ministry only)
PREPARATION
Start formation for either:
  • Recognised Local Ministry: 2 year weekend or evening programme
  • Accredited Ministry: 3 year immersive experience
MINISTRY
Receive recognition as:
Accredited Minister
Commended to serve nationally and practising Continuing Ministerial Development
Or
Recognised Local Minister
Equipped to serve locally and practising Continuing Ministerial Development
