60th anniversary celebrations at Limbrick

LimbrickLimbrick Wood Baptist Church in Coventry, celebrated the 60th anniversary of the opening of its church building recently (22-24 April), writes Sue Best

Many former members and friends returned to join in the celebrations with present members, friends, neighbours and local churches, including the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Coventry.

There was a Celebration Praise evening on Friday, a buffet reception on Saturday afternoon and a Celebration service on Sunday morning led by the Revd Richard Hughes, who was a toddler in Sunday School when the church was opened in 1956.

The church's first minister the Revd David Clarke attended the celebrations and assisted the present Pastor, Darren Bovis-Coulter, and the Lord Mayor of Coventry in the cutting of the cake (below).

It has been an encouraging year for the church: when Andrew Sedman was baptised in February, it was the first time the baptistery has been used in 14 years. A double baptism is planned this Sunday (8 May).

We praise the Lord for His faithfulness over the years and look forward to the ‘new thing’ He is and will be doing.
