Prepare the way of the Lord

Verses: Mark 1: 2-3
As it is written in the prophet Isaiah,
‘See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you who will prepare your way;
 the voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
    “Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight”’

Reflection
 

 
‘I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare the way of the Lord.  A voice of one calling in the wilderness ‘prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him’.

And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. It's how Mark's gospel begins: God preparing a way for his people to find him, centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ. John the Baptist preparing way for his people to encounter his son, the Son of God, Jesus Christ - preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

Prayer
Lord help me to have a repentant heart
Help me to continue to turn towards you
Help me to follow in the way of Jesus
Cleanse me from any sinful attitude of heart
Forgive my words and actions which do not fully reflect Jesus
Amen
