CIO Online Training Event for BUGB churches (by Zoom)
Wednesday 21 April 2021
Meeting starts at 10:00 aiming to finish at 13:00
Free event for a maximum of 2 delegates per church, arranged by the Baptist Union Legal and Operations team.
This is an opportunity to explore in greater depth the legal structure for charities known as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). It will be of interest to charity trustees who are assessing the risk profile of their church and considering a change to the legal structure of their church. It is also of relevance to those considering a CIO as an option for a separate project such as a pre-school or coffee shop.
The training will be hosted by BUGB Legal Services Manager Caroline Sanderson and Esther Campsall from Anthony Collins LLP. Topics that will be covered include:
-
Baptist church governance and charity registration
-
Why change your legal structure?
-
The process of incorporation as a CIO.
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions!
Please click here to register for this training event - closing date Sunday 18 April (unless the event is fully booked beforehand)
Delegates will be sent an information pack and Zoom joining instructions a few days before.
If you are unable to attend this event but would like further information on this topic please refer to
guideline leaflet C11 Churches, Charities and Incorporation. There will be two further CIO training events by Zoom this year on Wednesday 30 June and Wednesday 20 October. Bookings for those events will be open nearer to the time of each training event.
