The Revd Joel Edwards is a writer, coach, Bible teacher and international inspirational speaker covering issues of social justice, leadership, faith and society. He is also currently a doctoral student with St John’s College, Durham where he is also visiting fellow. Joel’s wide range of experiences include over 15 years as a freelance broadcaster with the BBC, 11 years as general director of the Evangelical Alliance UK and 10 years leadership in Micah Challenge International - a global faith-based response to extreme poverty. He has also served as Advisor to the Foreign Secretary’s Advisory Group on Human Rights as well as a Commissioner on the UK Equalities and Human Rights Commission.
More recently Joel worked with Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) as strategic advisor and director of Advocacy. Joel credentials as a coach and mentor includes 10 years as a local pastor in the East End of London which overlapped 13 years as a professional counsellor with the Inner London Probation Service. He is also an honorary Canon at St Paul’s Cathedral, and Visiting Fellow at Spurgeon’s College. Joel has been awarded three honorary doctorates including St Andrews University.
He is married to Carol and they have two children and six grandchildren.
