16 October 2010
The Gathering is designed to reveal the rich cultural heritage within the Baptist family. Come and engage with ‘fresh expressions’ of mission, innovative models of leadership and soul stirring rhythms of worship. Our prayer is that you will experience new perspectives on church, fellowship with others who are seeking to serve God and receive resources enabling you to make meaningful connections within your communities.
This year’s Gathering will be held on Saturday 16th October 2010 at Woodgrange Baptist church, Forest Gate, London. The conference will run from 10.30am - 4.30pm, and the cost will be £15 per person including lunch and refreshments.
The theme of the conference is ‘Reaching the Margins’ which will explore how to equip black and white Baptists to reach the white working class and other marginalised groups. It has become increasingly apparent that black and white Baptists are making insignificant inroads into white working class communities in particular.
The contributors such as David Mann, Diane Blackler, Stuart Murray–Williams, David Shosanya, Rosemarie Davidson-Gotobed, Bruce Stokes and others will help the delegates reflect on how best the black and white Christians can relate to the white working class and other marginalised communities.
The day will consist of informal conversations with the contributors, presentation of empirical research, worship as well as practical solutions to help build stronger relationships with those on the margins of life.
