Association Money Advice Days
Various Dates

The Mission Department is organising a number of regional events to enable churches to support and help those facing financial problems. These seminars will be led by representatives from Stewardship and Community Money Advice and will include the following topics:

  • How can the church help people in debt?
  • An introduction to personal budget coach training (Stewardship)
  • Setting up a debt advice centre (Community Money Advice)

    Crucible: Creating Church on the Margins
    Various Dates

    Crucible is a training programme which has developed as the result of a partnership between Workshop, Urban Expression and the ALOVE initiative of The Salvation Army which aims to equip Christians to create church on the margins. There are three intensive training weekends each year which take place at the International Mission Centre (IMC) in Birmingham. Cost is £50 for one, £100 for two and £130 for all three weekends. Trainers include Juliet Kilpin, who has recently left the BUGB Mission Department to work with Urban Expression and has a wealth of experience in the area of church planting. There are still places left on the third weekend (5-6 July 2008) of the 2007/2008 cycle with further dates as follows:

    Rural Churches’ Day
    Thursday 8 October - 10:30 - 15:30

    The Baptist Union has the third largest church representation in rural communities. The Mission Department is hosting this day for ministers and those in leadership roles in rural churches (eg deacons, moderators, etc). Speaker for the day will be Barry Osborne, a Congregational Minister with considerable experience in rural ministry and mission, and key to setting up the UK’s Rural Evangelism Network. He is the author of Rural Evangelism in the 21st Century. Val Pyper, minister of Little Kimble Baptist Church will also share her experiences of ministry in a rural setting.

    Cost for the day is £30 including lunch.

    Life in Technicolour
    Various Dates

    Connexion, a support network for those married to Baptists in Ministry, Mission, Training and retirement, is organising a Conference open to you if you are married to a Baptist Minister or Missionary, if your spouse is in training or has retired from ministry. It is also open to those who have been widowed. In addition to the bible studies and main teaching sessions, there will be times of worship and prayer, fellowship and fun and a “Concert”. You don’t have to be a member of Connexion to come.

    Cost: £135.00; this includes a non-refundable deposit of £30 payable on booking.

    Children and Family Workers’ Day

    Church Planters’ Day
    Monday 19 October – 10:45 – 15:15

    This day at Baptist House, hosted by the Incarnate Network and Mission Department, is for people involved in or thinking about church planting, or investing in a new mission opportunity.

    Evangelists’ Day
    Thursday 5 November – 10:45 – 15:15

    This day at Baptist House, hosted by the Mission Department, is for people working as evangelists or with responsibility for evangelism in the local church. The speaker will be the Revd Dr Roger Standing (Tutor in Mission, Evangelism and Pioneer Ministry at Spurgeon’s College) and there will be opportunity to offer mutual support, share experiences and resources. This is a repeat of the successful day held in May.

    Cost for the day is £15 including lunch.
