“It is my happy privilege to inform you that the votes have now been counted in the Vice Presidential Elections. The Revd Roger Martin has been duly elected as Vice President of the Union 2009-10 to become President 2010-2011 and the Revd Dr Pat Took has been duly elected as Vice President of the Union 2009-10 to become President Elect in 2010-2011 and President 2011-2012. Roger and Pat are hugely respected ministers and I know that they will make significant contributions to our life together. They have both shown themselves to be highly effective pastors and preachers and I know that the Baptist family will warmly greet the news of their election. I very much look forward to the privilege of working closely with them as we serve the Lord and the Baptist Union together.”

- Jonathan Edwards, the General Secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.
