BUGB PRESIDENT – REVD KINGSLEY APPIAGYEI

DAY OF PRAYER - 4 JULY 2009

Background:

‘During my year as BUGB President I will be encouraging churches to hold Prayer Days. Dates will be announced but to get us started the first one– which will be a more simple style – will take place on Saturday the 4 July 09.

My prayer is that as many of our Churches as possible will respond to this July Prayer Call, when as a Baptist family, we will all be lifting hands to pray together for revival.

It would be great for Pastors/Leaders of Churches to set a couple of hours when the Church would come together and pray. Prayers can be scheduled anytime during the day, as is convenient’.

Focal Text:

To help you focus in prayer, I would like to suggest you use the following passage on the 4 July…

“If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land - 2 Chr 7:14

The Lord offers us a gracious call to partner with Him (“my people”),that if God’s people will “humble” themselves and pray, He will heal our land. The first point of the call is for God’s people to admit that we need His help – that is the first step of humility before God. The assurance He has given us is that He “will” hear. That is a promise we can hold on to. He will hear us!

Let us pray:

During your time of prayer together or even on your own, please use the following points.

1. That we will repent from turning our back on God
2. That there will be a return of reverence for God in our nation
3. For humility and brokenness (Psalm 51:17; Matt 5:3)
4. For a fresh visitation of the presence of God
5. That our worship will be filled with the Spirit of God
6. That there will be a personal hunger for God (Jer 29:13; Phil 3:10)
7. For a fresh passion for the lost (Jn 4:35)
8. That anything that is dead in our lives will be revived
