Former BUGB President JJ Brown dies

Former BUGB President, the Revd John Jellicoe Brown, died at Parkside Home, Romford, aged 92 on 19 January 2008.
The Revd JJ Brown was Minister of Queen Street Baptist Church, Erith in Kent from 1941-1961, Senior Minister of Dagenham Baptist Church from 1961-1973, Herne Bay Baptist Church from 1973-1978, and from 1978 - 1983 served as Secretary to Spurgeon's College. He was President of the Union in 1972, and has made a major contribution to the Baptist Union and Council over the years. He will be sadly missed.
Condolences may be sent to his daughter Miss Christine Brown, 14 Tudor Drive, Gidea Park, Romford, Essex, RM2 5LH. His funeral will take place at Main Road Baptist Church, Romford on 1 February at 12 noon. Ian Bell, the minister at Main Road Baptist Church will lead the service, Colin Marchant will bring a personal tribute and Ray Brown a former principal of Spurgeon's College will give the address. No flowers please but donations to Spurgeon's College would be appreciated.
