Baptist Times Online

btBaptist Times Online and Weekly digest – latest news and update

On the 20th January 2012 the last ever Baptist Times newspaper will be published. This will be a special Commemorative Edition to celebrate the life of this important publication.

In the background the planning and development of the new Baptist Times Online is well under way and will be launched in the Spring 2012. This resource will be based in the Baptist Union of Great Britain’s Communications Department and Paul Hobson (currently News Editor for the Baptist Times) become the new Online Editor later this month.  Our vision is to reach a larger and broader audience.

Some of the main features of this new website will include a daily updated news service, features, comment and opinion, a downloadable free ‘Weekly News Digest’, Gazetteer and media training resources – for proactive and crisis media activity. The Baptist Times Online will also maximize the use of social media and enable people to offer their views and wrestle with issues raised each week online.

Baptist Times Weekly Digest Email – launching 25.1.12!

Alongside the new Baptist Times Online resource we are launching a weekly email with a round up of the news from the previous week. This will start on the 25th January 2012 – before we launch the new website in the Spring.

We are doing this because with the demise of the newspaper we still want to offer news to readers who would not use the internet. This weekly email will be sent to our church leaders weekly on Wednesday afternoon. It will contain a link to the new Baptist Times website and a PDF file with the news round-up. It can be printed out to pass to current Baptist Times subscribers on Sunday to keep them in touch. You might like to consider who in your church would benefit from this.

The beauty of this weekly email will also be that you can email it on to others in your church who do use the internet.

The Baptist Times website (www.baptisttimes.co.uk) will have a temporary page while the new site is being built.

(NB -The weekly Digest will continue when the new website is up and running)

Baptist Times News Sweep

To support the exciting developments with the Baptist Times online, BUGB’s daily religious news service, E-News Sweep, will be changing its name on 23rd January to Baptist Times News Sweep.  Subscribers will continue to receive news of events and a round-up of Christian news and views from the web but will also be alerted to new features and news on the Baptist Times website each day as well.

Therefore E-News will be a Baptist Times service instead of a BUGB service from now on.
If you do not currently receive Baptist Times News Sweep and would like to, fill out the subscriber form here.
