Following the commemorative edition of the 156 year old newspaper on Friday 20 January, a new downloadable The Baptist Times Weekly Round-Up will be available from the current The Baptist Times website from late afternoon on Wednesday 25 January. The two-page A5 format digest of Baptist news and features from the UK and abroad is specifically designed for churches to either share electronically or to print out so congregations can pick them up on Sunday.
People will be alerted by a weekly email when the Weekly Round-Up is available. A new The Baptist Times website is being worked on and will become the home of the Weekly Round-Up in March as well as being a daily online source of news and features. Podcasts and video content are also being planned.
E-News Sweep, a popular daily email from the Baptist Union of Great Britain featuring Christian events, news and views, will become on Monday 23 January The Baptist Times Daily News Sweep and will include daily updates from The Baptist Times website when it is launched. People will also be updated through The Baptist Times Facebook and Twitter feeds.
Paul Hobson, currently the News Editor at The Baptist Times, will become editor of the new online website. He is excited about the opportunities that the new digital version will bring. “The Baptist Times has served the denomination well over the last 150 years. Although the newspaper is now at an end, it is great that The Baptist Times will live on in a format that is appealing and relevant to today’s audience.”
