Fee increase for CRB Disclosures

We have just been informed that the fees for paid workers who are applying for CRB Disclosures will rise on April 6 2011. The new fee for an Enhanced Disclosure will be £44 and for a Standard Disclosure will be £26. This is the first price rise for 5 years and has come about as a result of the changes that affect the CRB and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). Cheques for those who apply through the Churches Agency for Safeguarding (CAS) are to be made payable to CAS. Volunteers continue to be free of charge.

Reviews of CRB and ISA

The government has now published these reviews – the ISA and CRB will merge but the Vetting and Barring Scheme as originally intended will not happen. It remains obligatory to report to the ISA those who are disciplined because their behaviour is considered to have caused harm to children or vulnerable adults. There are no changes at the moment to the existing CRB systems – therefore continue as at present with applications and renewals. More details will be published as things become clearer.
