Baptist Assembly 2011 - Public Resolutions

The following resolution will be presented for discussion at the Baptist Assembly on Monday 2 May 2011.

This Assembly:

  • Recognises the importance of taxation in poor countries for ensuring sustainable development finance and building accountability between state and citizen.
  • Calls upon BUGB and BMS World Mission to raise with HM Government the concern regarding the negative impacts of tax evasion and avoidance by some companies, which are estimated to cost poor countries $160bn each year.
  • Calls upon HM Government to show international leadership in negotiating international tax transparency for all multinational companies and an end to tax haven secrecy.

Resolutions to the Assembly

Notice is hereby given that the Baptist Union Council proposes the following resolutions to the 2011 Assembly:

Mr Malcolm Broad MBE be reappointed Treasurer of the Union for the year to Assembly 2012.

Wilkins Kennedy be reappointed Auditors for the funds of the Union for the year 2011, with thanks for their continuing service.

In accordance with clause 6.4 of part 2 of the Constitution, any proposed amendments of these resolutions must be notified in writing to the General Secretary, signed by five members of the Assembly, no later than 15 days before the first day of the Assembly.
