Please note that BUGB Mission Grants are only available to churches in membership of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the appropriate regional association.
On this page you will find information about the grants that we provide and how to apply for them. You will also find links to two password-protected pages. One of these is for churches/other ministries who are applying for a grant for 2011. The Application pack provided by your Association will give you the username and password that you need. The other page contains all the paperwork that associations need to assist them in the grant application process.
Note that the documents are all in Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel format.
BUGB Mission Grants
BUGB Mission Grants (previously known as Home Mission Grants) are given to help churches support a Minister who will lead them forward in their mission by helping them to reach out to their local community with the love of God in whatever ways are appropriate. The decision on the making or withholding of a grant lies with the national grants committee. Whilst this is a national grants scheme it is facilitated through the regional associations and, consequently, all applications must be made through your local association. Your association will be able to tell you the current procedures and timetable for applications.

Mission Project Grants
(previously known as Against the Stream and Green Shoots Grants)
Mission Project Grants are given in order to encourage and enable Baptist Churches to respond to the mission needs of their community as part of their ongoing work and ministry. They are one-off grants of up to £3000 for new projects or new initiatives within existing projects. These projects must have a mission focus, in that their main aim should be to benefit people from the community which the church is seeking to serve. Projects that we have helped include drop-in centres, lunch clubs, debt counselling, equipment libraries, after-school clubs, outreach at events such as the Notting Hill carnival, cafes and coffee shops, holiday clubs, puppets, mission weeks and church in a pub.
Approximately 2% of the money given to the Home Mission appeal is allocated for Mission Project Grants. Grant applications are considered four times a year and application packs are available from Associations. If you would like more information please contact your Association or the BUGB Grants Manager (grants@baptist.org.uk).
You can also download a copy of the Guidance Notes by clicking here. Although these are designed to assist in completing the form they do give further information about these grants which you may find helpful. Please note that application packs (including application forms) are only available from Associations and not from the BUGB Grants Office.
Association contact details can be obtained using the ‘More information on Regional Associations’ link on the right of this page.
