TRUSTEES

Due to changes in the charity law, in 2006 the BUGB appointed a board of trustees. The role of the twelve trustees is to provide strategic direction for the BUGB, ensure appropriate policies are in place and operated effectively, to oversee the Union's committee structure and to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

They meet eight times a year, and invite people to join them to advise them on particular matters.

 Revd Kwame Adzam The Revd Kwame Adzam is a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he is an evangelist, church planter, preacher, teacher and missions strategist. He is a director of the London Baptist Association, a member of the Knights Hill Panel set up by the Metropolitan Police and serving on the committee for developing young people and curbing crime among the youth in West Norwood set up by the Hon. Tessa Jowell.



Revd Ruth Bottoms The Revd Ruth Bottoms currently combines caring for her disabled father with a part-time MA in Christian Spirituality and part-time work as the Bedfordshire County Ecumenical Development Officer. She has previously had 16 years in local pastorate and three and a half years in an ecumenical community. She is a former Moderator of the Baptist Union Council and represented the Union at the World Council of Churches for fifteen years.


Malcolm Broad Malcolm Broad, MBE is Treasurer of the Baptist Union of Great Britain. He is a member and Treasurer of Keynsham Baptist Church and works for HSBC as a Senior Commercial Manager. For the last 13 years he has worked as an Association Treasurer in the west country. Malcolm is chair of governors at Portway Community School, Bristol to become Oasis Academy Brightstowe.

Revd Jonathan Edwards The Revd Jonathan Edwards is a member of Newbury Baptist Church and is General Secretary of the Baptist Union.





Revd Dr Stephen Finamore The Revd Dr Stephen Finamore became Principal of the Bristol Baptist College in September 2006. Prior to that he served as Minister of Westbury-on-Trym Baptist Church in Bristol. He has knowledge and expertise in law, ministry, mission and theology and has served on a number of Trustee and Management Boards. He is a former staff member of the BUGB Mission Department.


Revd Gordon Hindmarch The Revd Gordon Hindmarch is a Regional Minister with West of England Baptist Association. As part of the association strategy for growing healthy churches, he has special responsibility for the pastoral issues including the care of ministers and their families, developing church leaders including ministerial recognition, and child protection matters. He was Minister of Moortown Baptist Church, Leeds from 1998 to 2007. He has served on BU Council, BU Trustees, GP&FE, Against the Stream, the Scholarship & Ministerial Training Bursary Committee and the Retired Baptist Ministers' Housing Society Committee.


Revd Phil Jump The Revd Phil Jump is a member of Maghull Baptist Church, Liverpool and is the Team Leader for the North West Baptist Association. Phil has a background in engineering management, was a founding Trustee and creative Director of Crossroads Theatre Company. He has wide based experience in a number of faith-based community projects, including being Chair of one of the first Education Action Zones.


Revd Jane Kingsnorth Revd Jane Kingsnorth is a Baptist minister with 10 years' experience in church as community, working with statutory bodies and setting up and running charities. She is a member of Bridge Builders, the Christian congregational mediation network and also has qualifications and training in counselling. She has been appointed as Ecumenical Development Minister to the new town of Wixams, near Bedford. With house building on hold, she has accepted a short term post as interim minister at Stondon Baptist Church.


Mr David Roberts Mr David Roberts is a member of Tyndale Baptist Church, Bristol and has served for many years in local Baptist Churches, Associations and the wider denomination,. After a career in adult education he has gained considerable experience of legal and financial issues through many years service with Baptist trust bodies.


Mrs Jenny Royal Mrs Jenny Royal has worked for many years in consultancy as a Chartered Occupational Psychologist. She is a member of Wallingford Baptist church and has been involved in a number of consultancy projects with BUGB and Southern Counties Baptist Association over the past few years. She serves on the Staffing Committee of both.


Revd Barrie Smith The Revd Barrie Smith is a member of Hall Green Baptist Church, Birmingham and is Regional Minister with the Heart of England Baptist Association. He has served on numerous Committees, regionally, nationally and ecumenically and has some understanding both of Baptist ecclesiology and relevant Charity Law.


Ms Pat White Ms Pat White is a member of Brixton (Kenyon) Baptist Church. She has knowledge and expertise in Human Resources and Ecumenical matters. Pat currently serves as Moderator of the Racial Justice Working Group and has 19 years Senior Management experience in Local authority. She has also served as a Lay Magistrate for a number of years.
