BMS World Mission

Christian mission organisation started by Baptist minister William Carey in 1792 which has over around 400 long, medium and short-term personnel, teams and volunteers, as well as a large number of supported partner workers around the world, working in around forty countries on four continents. Their head office is at Baptist House in Didcot. Together with the BUGB, BMS World Mission host The Baptist Assembly.

Fellowship of British Baptists

The Fellowship of British Baptists is made up of the Baptist Union of Scotland, the Baptist Union of Wales, the Baptist Union of Great Britain and BMS World Mission.


Independent Methodists

The Independent Methodists are a denomination with churches mainly in the north of England. The BUGB entered into a covenant partnership with the Independent Methodists in January 2005, working towards full integration of the two groups by 31 December 2009.

Churches Together in England is a national ecumenical body set up by church denominations (including BUGB) in 1990, and has partner bodies in Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

Christian Aid

Christian Aid logo
Christian Aid is a UK and Ireland based charity that funds projects in some of the world's poorest countries. It helps people to improve their own lives and to tackle the causes of poverty and injustice. It was set up in 1945 by churches in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The BUGB works with Christian Aid on Just Life, which is building a network of churches committed to campaigning on issues of justice, and provides regular contacts with partners organisations in Sierra Leone and Israel/Palestine.

The BUGB is a founder member of the European Baptist Federation (EBF) which comprise of more than 800,000 Baptists in 51 Unions. The purpose of the EBF is to strengthen and draw together Baptists in Europe and the Middle East on the basis of their Christian witness and distinctive convictions, to encourage and inspire them in faith and fellowship and shared responsibility, and to seek in all its endeavours to fulfil the will of Jesus Christ, Lord and Saviour."

Conference of European Churches

The Conference of European Churches (CEC) is a fellowship of 126 Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican and Old Catholic Churches along with 43 associated organisations from all countries on the European continent. CEC was founded in 1959 and has offices in Geneva, Brussels and Strasbourg.

Baptist World Alliance

The BUGB was also a founder member of the Baptist World Alliance in 1905. The Baptist World Alliance is a fellowship of 214 Baptist unions and conventions comprising a membership of more than 34 million baptized believers. This represents a community of approximately 80 million Baptists ministering around the world. The BWA unites Baptists worldwide, leads in evangelism, responds to people in need and defends human rights. The BUGB hosted their Baptist World Congress in Birmingham in 2005.
