Inspection Report: Regent Park

The first of the new-style inspections of theological colleges by the Quality in Formation Panel took place in November 2008, and amongst them was the Baptist college, Regent’s Park College, Oxford. The Baptist Union is delighted that the inspection found the College ‘fit for purpose.’

Under the new inspection process, at Regent’s Park College the majority of the categories which the inspection is concerned to evaluate met with the confidence of the Quality in Formation Panel, although inevitably, there were areas the inspectors believe warrant attention. This has given he College the overall outcome of ‘Confidence, with qualifications’, and both the Baptist Union and the College are confident that those areas of College life requiring attention will benefit from the recommendations by the inspectors.

The Baptist Union continues to commend the College to prospective ministerial candidates as a suitable place to gain ministerial training and formation, as it does with the other five colleges in membership with the Baptist Union, and retains its confidence in the institution with its unique blend of undergraduate students, post graduate and ministerial students, studying together within a Christian environment.

It also supports the Governors, Principal and fellows as they continue to strengthen the life of the College and strive for an ever-improving quality in all areas of College life.
