Daniel Stone is the National School and College Pastors' Coordinator for Ascension Trust, coordinating the work of initiatives stretching from Aberdeen to Southampton, and across a number of London boroughs.
Prior to this appointment, Daniel worked as the Education and Community Projects Coordinator for diversity recruitment consultants, Rare and as a church-based community organiser at the Contextual Theology Centre.
Daniel is a recent graduate of the University of Oxford where he received a BA in Economics and Management from St Peter’s College. While at Oxford University, Daniel was elected to be St Peter’s JCR President and was later elected as a full-time Sabbatical Officer for the Oxford University Student Union.
Apart from the time spent in Oxford, Daniel has spent his life living in Birmingham where he has been an active member of his local community. Aged 18, Daniel secured the funding necessary to start a community football team and spent a year shadowing his local councillor and contributing to local policy discussions. He also interned with the Trade Union Congress and with the grassroots community organisation, Citizens UK, where he co-ordinated a number of initiatives aimed at providing a response to gang and youth crime issues.
Despite being away in Oxford and now London, Daniel has continued to maintain close ties with secondary schools in his local community. Having become the first person from his school to graduate from the University of Oxford, Daniel is keen to use his experiences to help inspire students of all ages and abilities to make the most of the opportunities around them.
