SEBAThe future is bright ...

Chiddingfold Baptist Church, in the South Eastern Baptist Association, is supported by Home Mission.  Minister Ian O’Herlihy shares the story

Chiddingfold DrawingToday Chiddingfold Baptist church is a fellowship of around 45 who continue to seek to carry the torch of witness to a new generation. There is a healthy balance of female/male members and the range of age of those who attend varies quite consistently with the exception of those aged 18 - 30 who are an age group we are making every effort to engage. Chiddingfold Baptist Church seeks to be at its centre a biblical and evangelical fellowship that has the following mission statement:

We exist to bring people to a relationship with Jesus Christ and to express that new life in the love and work of the church family and local community

ChiddingfoldVillageHallThree things to praise God for:

  • For the growing youth and young person’s work, especially the great success of Messy Church
  • For the growing commitment amongst the fellowship to serve God with excellence.
  • For the continuing good ecumenical relations between the Christian fellowships in the village.

Three things to ask God for:

  • That the success of Messy Church will translate into greater community connections.
  • That the Lord would continue to guide and sustain the leadership.
  • That the Church weekend away will be a time of blessing and refreshment for the fellowship.

Practical Needs:

  • We have discovered that some essential work is needed on the roof of the church building. Finances for this work will need to be raised to fix the issue before it becomes a crisis.
  • New chairs are on the Fabric Groups agenda as the current chairs are beginning to look tatty and they take up a lot of space as they don’t stack well.

Specific Church Goals for the coming year:

  • We have recently set up teams that support the work of Discipleship, Evangelism, Fellowship, Ministry and Worship. The goal is to get these teams working well and to see them enhance the output of the churches ministry.
  • From March 2014 we are going to begin a Teaching Night that will seek to stimulate and strengthen the church. Preaching and teaching overlap but we feel the need to go deeper into certain subjects and this night will allow this to happen.
  • To continue unfolding God purposes and plans for us and the wider community.

How are things at the Church generally?
ChiddingfoldSchoolThings at Chiddingfold Baptist Church continue to grow and change. Over the last year we have seen a successful launch of Messy Church which we celebrated at Christmas by hosting a party at the village hall. The party was amazing and we had over a hundred people of all ages there. We have begun a Creative Arts Group which is at the moment only a hand full of people but it is catching the attention of others. Contact with the wider community is growing by the week and we believe that all our efforts will be rewarded in a blossoming of the Kingdom in Chiddingfold. The future is bright.
